Macbeth and Guard High Poly

I’M BACK! After a good holiday skiing in the Andorra Mountains I’ve decided to get back to work early. Considering we only have 2 weeks left, after Easter before the year ends, I thought it would be wise to use as much time as possible to avoid any stress as the deadline to this project draws closer. This week I was able to finish up on the high poly model of Macbeth. One of the bonus's was that this character didn’t require that many accessories as this is the 11th century and is meant to be casual gear. However I wanted to make this character more interesting, by doing this I decided to add the padded sleeves as well as the braces and torso wrap to give him that look with a twist of both the look of a lord and a warrior.

After the completion of Macbeth I then moved onto the guard. To speed things up and give me some reassurance of being on top I decided to jump straight into the modelling for this character and develop further with concepting later on if need be. To speed things up I used Macbeths high poly but deleted and added on various parts to make him look like an 11th century guard. Again to save time I decided to cover his Face with the helmet, this way I would then rule out the time it takes to create another face.

I used Saxon warrior Armour as inspiration for this guard as this was the time of that particular era. However this era was also coming to a close in this century so I think it’s essential that I show a bit of medieval in there as well as Saxon. The mask as well as the tunic on top of the other tunic may be chainmail depending on how the development goes.

I tried adding a micromesh to the sub tool of the tunic and mask however I may have done something wrong or overlooked something in the process and was unable to meet this requirement. As a result I may have to look to doing alpha maps which I believe can still add a convincing effect to the overall outcome.
Of course he wouldn’t really be much of a guard without a weapon, so to aid me with this character design, a team member who volunteered to do the armoury has kindly offered to do a spear and a shield for him, to make him look that little more accessorised.
